In a bold and decisive move, the Indian Armed Forces launched missile attacks on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Wednesday. The strikes targeted key strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, including Muridke and Bahawalpur.
The military action, carried out at 1:44 am, comes in response to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes, calling them an "act of war" and asserting Pakistan's right to respond forcefully. "The Pakistani nation and armed forces know how to deal with the enemy. We will never allow the enemy to succeed in their nefarious goals," Sharif stated.
India's powerful response comes just ahead of a nationwide security mock drill across 244 districts to strengthen civil defence against hostile attacks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to chase down the perpetrators to the "ends of the earth," promising punishment "beyond their imagination."
