In a significant step towards strengthening India’s vocational education and skill development ecosystem, the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has entered into a partnership with Flipkart. Under this collaboration, NCVET has recognised Flipkart as a dual awarding body to enhance industry-aligned skill development pathways for the workforce in India’s rapidly growing e-commerce and logistics sector, in line with the Skill India Mission.
The agreement aims to develop nationally recognised, industry-based training programmes that integrate training, assessment, and certification for the e-commerce and logistics workforce. The partnership leverages Flipkart’s operational expertise to create structured and outcome-oriented skill development programmes aligned with national standards.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of senior officials from MSDE and NCVET. MSDE Secretary and NCVET Chairperson Ms. Debashree Mukherjee attended the event as the chief guest. She was joined by NCVET Executive Member Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Gaba and Flipkart Group Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mr. Rajneesh Kumar. NCVET Director Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati, Dr. Suhas Deshmukh, and Mr. Deepak Dan Baranwal were also present.
Established under the aegis of MSDE, NCVET plays a pivotal role in regulating and ensuring quality across India’s vocational education, training, and skill development systems. Its mandate includes setting national benchmarks that enhance workforce employability and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Under this collaboration, NCVET will support Flipkart in building capabilities to function as a recognised dual awarding body for training, assessment, and certification. This will enable industry-designed skill programmes to be formally standardised, portable, and nationally recognised. The recognition will allow Flipkart to design and deliver training programmes aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), ensuring consistency in quality and industry relevance. The partnership will also facilitate the development of high-quality, standardised training and certification programmes aimed at improving employability, particularly for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Speaking on the occasion, MSDE Secretary and NCVET Chairperson Ms. Debashree Mukherjee said, “NCVET’s partnership with Flipkart strengthens our continued efforts to make India’s skill development framework more industry-responsive, credible, and outcome-driven. By aligning training and certification with real operational needs, we are creating pathways for quality jobs, mobility, and long-term career growth.”
Flipkart Group Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mr. Rajneesh Kumar stated, “At Flipkart, skill development is not a peripheral initiative but a core contribution to building India’s digital commerce infrastructure. As one of the largest employers and ecosystem enablers in e-commerce and logistics, we see it as our responsibility to help create standardised, nationally recognised, industry-led and outcome-oriented skill pathways.”
