NEW DELHI- June 25, 2025
In a compelling display of its dedication to national welfare and a more robust educational environment, faculty members from the Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education (IASE) and the Department of Educational Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia's (JMI) Faculty of Education have actively participated in the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada" Under the leadership of Dean Prof. Jessy Abraham, along with Prof. Ushvinder Kaur Popli, Nodal Officer of JMI's Nasha Mukt Hostel Committee (NMHC), these educators made a significant e-pledge, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free India and campus.
The "Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada," observed nationwide from June 12th to June 26th, 2025, aligns perfectly with the overarching aim and vision of the Nasha Mukt Hostel Committee at JMI.The NMHC is dedicated to fostering a drug-free environment within the university, specifically within its hostels and across the broader campus community. Its vision extends beyond mere enforcement; it seeks to cultivate a culture of awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility against substance abuse. The Committee works tirelessly to ensure that JMI remains a beacon of health and well-being, contributing significantly to the national "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" (Drug-Free India Campaign).
Taking the e-pledge was a pivotal directive of this campaign. This act of pledge-taking holds profound significance, particularly for teacher educators and pre-service teachers. For teacher educators, it serves as a public declaration of their commitment to social responsibility and a healthy society, setting a crucial example for future generations. For pre-service teachers, who are on the cusp of shaping young minds, taking this pledge instills an early and strong sense of duty to guide their future students away from the perils of drug abuse. It equips them with the moral conviction and understanding necessary to become advocates for a drug-free lifestyle in their own classrooms and communities. Their participation transforms them into critical agents of change in achieving the broader goals of the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan."
This collective effort from the Faculty of Education underscores Jamia Millia Islamia's profound dedication to nurturing a safe, healthy, and responsible future for its students and the nation.
