Bhopal, April 24, 2026: The Madhya Pradesh government has strengthened its support for women tendu leaf collectors through policy measures aimed at improving income and economic empowerment.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the state has increased the tendu leaf collection rate from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per standard bag. As a result, a total remuneration of approximately ₹708.8 crore has been disbursed, of which around ₹344.5 crore has directly benefited women collectors.
In addition, a bonus amount of ₹132.42 crore has been distributed, with women receiving nearly ₹64.36 crore.
Officials stated that the initiative is not only aimed at increasing income but also at providing economic recognition and financial stability to rural and tribal women engaged in forest-based livelihoods.
Women play a significant role in tendu leaf collection in the state. Out of 40.8 lakh total collectors, around 19.8 lakh are women, accounting for approximately 48.6% participation.
The government highlighted that integrating traditional forest activities with modern policy support is helping improve income levels, confidence, and social standing of women, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and sustainable rural development.
