Bhopal, April 24, 2026: Madhya Pradesh has set an ambitious target to connect 26,000 villages with dairy activities and achieve daily milk procurement of 52 lakh kilograms, with a strong focus on transparency, digitisation, and brand strengthening.
The directives were issued by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during the state-level steering committee meeting of the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation.
The Chief Minister emphasized that dairy development plays a critical role in enhancing farmers’ income and directed officials to prepare a time-bound roadmap for expanding cooperative coverage, modernising processing units, strengthening value chains, and improving market access.
He also called for greater participation of women in dairy cooperatives, highlighting the need to promote inclusive growth within the sector.
The meeting stressed the importance of leveraging support from National Dairy Development Board to scale operations across the state. Officials were directed to focus on brand strengthening, improved packaging, and wider distribution of dairy products.
To enhance operational efficiency and transparency, the state is rolling out a mobile application for milk procurement, enabling real-time tracking of milk quantity, quality, and pricing for dairy farmers. A separate field force monitoring app has also been introduced to improve supervision of on-ground operations.
The state government has also planned district-level programmes to honour model livestock farmers, along with exhibitions and awareness initiatives to promote innovation in dairy practices.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that in 2025–26, a total of 1,752 new dairy cooperative societies were formed, while 701 inactive societies were revived. Currently, the state records daily milk procurement of approximately 9.67 lakh kilograms, supported by the installation of 153 new bulk milk coolers.
Additionally, the government has discontinued credit-based sales of milk and milk products to improve financial discipline within the sector.
