A high-profile road accident in Kanpur has triggered serious concerns over law enforcement and alleged misuse of influence after a luxury Lamborghini car, reportedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of a tobacco businessman, hit more than six people on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on VIP Road in the Gwaltoli police station area, where the speeding vehicle allegedly went out of control and rammed multiple pedestrians and roadside motorists. Eyewitnesses said the most severe impact occurred when the car struck a Bullet motorcycle rider with such force that he was thrown nearly 10 feet into the air, after which the Lamborghini reportedly ran over the motorcycle.
Chaos at the Scene
Following the crash, angry locals surrounded the car. According to reports, Mishra remained inside the vehicle while his accompanying bouncers attempted to push back the crowd, leading to tense confrontations. Police soon arrived, controlled the situation, and escorted him safely from the scene.
Tension at Police Station
The damaged Lamborghini was taken to the police station, but unrest continued as injured victims and locals gathered there. Allegations surfaced that the bouncers misbehaved with victims inside the police station, further escalating tensions. Police parked the vehicle inside the premises and covered it amid the uproar.
Allegations of Influence
Victims have accused authorities of inaction due to the accused’s influential background, claiming that despite complaints being submitted, no FIR had been registered until late evening. Police stated that Mishra was unwell and had been admitted to a hospital, which contributed to the delay.
Past Controversies
Shivam Mishra is known for his interest in luxury cars and high-profile lifestyle. His family has previously faced scrutiny, including an Income Tax raid on Banshidhar Exports Pvt Ltd two years ago, where alleged tax evasion exceeding ₹100 crore was reported.
