New Delhi, November 13: Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, an Associate Professor at the IASE of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been designated as a Member of the Departmental Advisory Board (DAB) of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The roles and functions of the DBA include providing guidance on the key focus areas of the Department, evaluating various programs associated with students, research, development, and training, and making recommendations for further review by the Competent Authority of NIOS. Additionally, the DBA is tasked with overseeing the effective execution of departmental programs, formulating or proposing strategic plans for the Department, and aiding in policy-making to enhance student support services.
Upon his appointment, JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif extended his congratulation for his remarkable accomplishment and expressed his best wishes for future endeavors.
Dr. Khan also serves as a principal member of the Artificial Limbs, Rehabilitation Appliances, and Equipment for Persons with Disabilities Sectional Committee (MHD 09) under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which operates within the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Government of India. He is also a member of the Zonal Coordination Committee (ZCC) for Northern Zone- III, encompassing Delhi and Haryana, under the Rehabilitation Council of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Additionally, he holds the position of Nodal Officer and State In-charge for the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEMD) - National Board for Education Research (NBER) for Delhi and Haryana.
Dr. Khan is an expert member involved in the development of training programs for special teachers and rehabilitation practitioners aimed at educating individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as part of an Expert Committee under the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Furthermore, he serves as a visiting expert to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and RCI, and is a special invitee member of the Madarsa Education Board under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Andhra Pradesh.
At the university level, he is a member of the Roster Committee, which is tasked with the preparation and maintenance of the reservations roster, as well as the identification of teaching and non-teaching positions for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act of 2016. Additionally, he serves as the Coordinator for Capacity Building on Specific Learning Disabilities (CBSLDs) under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (2024). A notable aspect of his work is his involvement in legislative advocacy and policy development. Dr. Khan is dedicated to influencing and shaping policies that safeguard the rights of individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have access to quality education and necessary support services.
