Jaipur, Rajasthan: Jaipur police arrested RPS officer Ritesh Patel for allegedly demanding a ₹1 crore bribe from a businessman by sending a fake FIR in the name of the Special Operations Group (SOG). The officer reportedly used his position to intimidate the complainant and extract money—₹25 lakh was paid online and ₹25 lakh in cash.
Patel was taken into custody from his residence near Kesar Chauraha in Mahesh Nagar. During questioning, he admitted to preparing the fake FIR and accepting bribe money.
Patel had faced prior controversy in 2024 over illegal sand dealings in Gangapur and was under an APO. Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal said the case highlights internal corruption and the need for accountability within the police system. The investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved and whether Patel leveraged his spouse’s magistrate position to exert pressure.
