Jaipur, 22 November. Rajasthan will soon prepare a comprehensive action plan to effectively prevent road accidents and strengthen life-saving measures for accident victims. A dedicated Trauma Care Policy will be formulated, and Level-1 and Level-2 trauma centers across the state will be upgraded on a mission mode. The state government will soon finalize a detailed roadmap to reduce fatalities caused by road accidents.
During his inspection of the Trauma Center at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital on Saturday, Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas issued key directions in this regard. He said that, as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court-appointed committee, an extensive study and inspection of all aspects of road safety in the state is being conducted. Based on this report, an actionable plan will be prepared and implemented.
Adequate Life-Saving Equipment and Human Resources to Be Ensured
The Chief Secretary said that facilities at trauma centers across the state will be enhanced to ensure timely emergency treatment. Adequate ICU beds, life-saving equipment, diagnostic services, and medicines will be ensured. Efforts will also be made to deploy fully trained doctors and nursing staff in proportion to patient load. He directed officials to take necessary steps in this regard.
Interaction With Trainees
Shri Srinivas inspected the emergency ward, ICU, and patient wards at the trauma center, closely observing the facilities and treatment processes. He also interacted with patients and their attendants for feedback. Additionally, he inspected the BLS Training Center operating at the facility and interacted with trainees undergoing training.
Best Practices to Be Replicated Statewide
He stated that the SMS Hospital Trauma Center is a Level-1 facility where doctors, nursing staff, and others receive effective training. Best practices from this center and from across the country in road safety and life-saving efforts will be adopted statewide. Other trauma centers in Rajasthan will also be equipped with advanced facilities to improve survival during the 'golden hour.'
Review of Trauma Center Status
After the inspection, the Chief Secretary held a meeting with officials to review patient load, available resources, and manpower at the SMS Trauma Center. He also reviewed the status of trauma centers in other districts.
Over 8,000 Individuals Trained in BLS
Principal Secretary, Medical & Health and Medical Education, Smt. Gayatri Rathore, briefed about the facilities at the trauma center. She informed that the Skill Lab here is the first in the country to offer free Basic Life Support (BLS) training specifically for road accident victims. More than 8,000 participants have been trained so far, enabling them to assist in the initial stages of emergencies. Over 2,500 doctors and nursing officers have also been trained.
13 New BLS Training Centers Coming Up
Transport Secretary Smt. Shuchi Tyagi informed that 13 new BLS training centers are being established across Rajasthan, which will help reduce fatalities caused by road accidents.
Trauma Center Nodal Officer Dr. B. L. Yadav and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jagdish Modi provided detailed information about available resources.
