A shocking incident unfolded in one of Lucknow’s posh localities when a businessman was trapped under the wheels of a Mahindra Thar SUV for nearly 25 minutes, leaving residents horrified and raising questions about road safety and public order. Local police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
According to police and witnesses, Pawan Patel, a businessman from Morang, was at a club inside the Summit Building complex in Vibhuti Khand with friends on Thursday night. Around 1 a.m., an altercation erupted between occupants of a Thar and another vehicle as people were leaving the parking area.
What Happened
The incident began with a heated argument between two groups in the parking area.
When Patel attempted to intervene and calm the situation, the Thar driver allegedly reversed and struck him.
In a horrifying turn, the accused reportedly kept the Thar’s wheels on both of Patel’s legs for about 25 minutes, even as he screamed for help.
During this time, Patel’s friend Prashant, who tried to help, was also reportedly assaulted.
Neighbouring residents and passersby heard the cries and rushed to assist, working together to free Patel from under the vehicle.
Aftermath
Police and locals then pulled Patel from beneath the SUV and rushed him to a nearby hospital in serious condition, where he remains under treatment.
The Vibhuti Khand police have filed an FIR against two individuals in connection with the incident and seized the Thar involved. Investigation is ongoing to determine whether the matter was a violent confrontation that escalated into attempted murder or reckless conduct leading to grievous injury.
