Bhartiya Skill Development University (BDSU) organized its 15th Board of Studies (BoS) meeting on 20th July 2019 at Jaipur. One of the important announcements during the meeting was about the three new vocational degree programs based on the Swiss Dual system, which include- B.Voc Healthcare Skills, B.Voc Entrepreneurship Skills (Beauty and Wellness), and B.Voc metal Construction Skills. The meeting saw enthusiastic participation from the Board members and special invitees from technical education bodies like Universities to discuss multiple strategies to skill the youth. The meeting was chaired by Dr. (Brig.) SS Pabla, president BSDU and he provided the details about the three new courses proposed for the academic year 2019 -2020.
Announcing the launch of new programs, Dr. Pabla said, “The new courses are customized according to industry demands. Our aim is to provide in-depth training to students in maximum possible skill areas. Any student completing our vocational degree will definitely have a higher chance of being recruited as he receives the most sought-after training from professionals on world class machines available at our campus.”
While addressing the members of Board of Studies, Dr. Pablasaid, “Our objective is to nurture students with best of skill development initiatives. We are proud to announce these new courses. I hope this will help students to get job ready from grassroots level. We are delighted to share that we have created a milestone by providing 100% placement assistance to all the students who enrolled in B.Voc. courses last year. Moreover, at this time we have around 180 companies on board for placements.”
Under the three new courses, students will spend three semesters at the university, where they will learn theoretic aspects of their respective fields as well learn how to work with machines and equipment. Whereas, the other three semesters will be spent in industry where students will get practical training.
Along with the new courses, BSDU also announced the increase in its fees structure. Earlier, the fees ranged from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000, whereas now the fees for BSDU’s B.Voc. and M.Voc. courses range from 60,000 to around Rs 1,00,000. The reason behind the raise is the increasing number of students year-by-year, and the need of more resources and facilities from the university’s end. Apart from this, BSDU proposed changes in some of its courses’ curriculum and some additions in training methods.
