The Government of India, in coordination with States and Union Territories, is implementing a “Whole of Government” approach to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside Test, Track, Treat, and COVID-Appropriate Behaviour, Vaccination remains a core element of the five-point containment strategy.
Phase 3 of the Vaccination Drive began on 1st May 2021 under a liberalised and accelerated framework.
Registration for newly eligible population groups started from 28th April via the CoWIN portal (cowin.gov.in) and Aarogya Setu app.
Vaccine Supply Status (as of 8 AM, reporting day):
Total doses provided to States/UTs: 17.02 crore
Total consumption (including wastage): 16.07 crore
Doses still available with States/UTs: 94.47 lakh
Additional doses to be delivered in next 3 days: 36.37 lakh
This update reflects the government’s sustained efforts to ensure timely vaccine availability and equitable distribution across the country.
