Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi inaugurated a national conference of the Central Waqf Council at the NDMC Convention Centre and announced that the government aims to achieve 100% digitisation of over six lakh registered Waqf properties across India within its first 100 days.
During the conference, Shri Naqvi said that a nationwide programme for geo-tagging and digitisation of Waqf properties has been launched to improve transparency, protection, and utilisation of these assets for public welfare. The Central Waqf Council will provide financial and technical support to state Waqf boards for completing the process within the set timeline.
The Minister also honoured eight Mutawalis under the “Qaumi Waqf Board Taraqqiati Scheme” for effective management and better utilisation of Waqf properties aimed at socio-economic and educational empowerment of needy communities. He emphasized that Mutawalis are custodians of Waqf properties and are responsible for ensuring their safety and proper use.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Minority Affairs, state Waqf boards, and the Central Waqf Council attended the conference.
