National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continues to carry out flood rescue and relief operations across flood-affected regions of the country during the ongoing monsoon season.
A total of 126 self-contained rescue and relief teams of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed nationwide for prompt emergency response. So far, NDRF personnel have rescued 15 people, evacuated more than 14,000 persons and 130 livestock, and provided medical assistance to over 6,220 people and 795 livestock.
In Bihar, NDRF teams conducted a rescue operation at Sri Rampur village in Bettiah district after six people were stranded in the strong currents of the Pandai River since morning. The teams safely evacuated all stranded persons and also rescued 35 livestock using NDRF boats.
In Assam, NDRF teams deployed in Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Baksa districts evacuated 633 people to safer locations and provided medical assistance to 487 affected residents.
National Disaster Response Force stated that its 24x7 control room in New Delhi is continuously monitoring the flood situation and coordinating with other agencies for emergency response operations.
Director General of NDRF, S. N. Pradhan, is personally overseeing the ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
