Jaipur, February 20, 2026: In view of the rising cases of cyber fraud in the name of online investment and trading, the Rajasthan Police Cyber Cell, under the guidance of Director General of Police Rajasthan Police, has issued a special advisory urging investors to verify payment details through the “SEBI Check” facility before transferring any funds.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Vikas Sharma said cybercriminals frequently lure victims with fake investment schemes promising unusually high returns. To safeguard investors, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) provides a verification feature that enables users to check whether a UPI ID, QR code, or bank account number belongs to a SEBI-registered intermediary.
How to Perform a SEBI Check (Step-by-Step)
Download the SEBI Saathi App or visit SEBI’s official website.
Click on the “SEBI Check” option on the homepage.
Upload the QR code or enter the UPI ID / bank account number of the concerned person or entity.
How to Interpret the Results
“UPI ID is valid”: The UPI ID is linked to a SEBI-registered intermediary and is considered safe for transactions.
“UPI ID is invalid”: The ID is not registered with SEBI. Do not make any payment in such cases.
Key Advisory for Investors
Invest only through SEBI-registered brokers or investment advisors.
Be cautious of “double your money overnight” offers circulating on social media or messaging apps.
Never transfer investment funds to personal bank accounts.
Rajasthan Police has urged citizens to remain vigilant and conduct proper verification before making any digital investment payment to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
