In a powerful move to promote inclusivity and equal opportunity, Tata Power celebrated International Women’s Day with an ‘All-Women Shift’ at its Khopoli Hydro Power Station under the global theme #BreakTheBias.
The special initiative saw women engineers and trainees managing the entire morning shift operations, reflecting Tata Power’s ongoing efforts to strengthen gender diversity and create a more inclusive workplace culture.
The all-women operations team included Ms. Neha Bande (Operation Engineer on Duty – Khopoli and Bhivpuri), Ms. Sayani Chatterjee (Assistant Operation Engineer – Khopoli), Mrs. Anuja Patil (Lead Engineer – Maintenance), along with three DET trainees — Ms. Afrin Jamadar, Ms. Siddhi Humbe, and Ms. Aarti Chavan.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said:
“Tata Power is committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture backed by curated programs and progressive policies. We take pride in women leading projects, managing operations, taking up CXO roles, and excelling across all our business clusters. Initiatives like the ‘All-Women Shift’ reinforce our vision to enable women to take on unconventional roles and thrive.”
The company noted that this effort aims to increase women’s participation in operations and maintenance (O&M) functions while promoting gender-balanced decision-making in the energy sector.
Tata Power has been at the forefront of gender inclusion through women-run customer care centres at its Delhi and Odisha discoms and various initiatives that empower women employees across technical and leadership roles.
