Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla on Wednesday said that sports play a vital role in strengthening social harmony, brotherhood, and healthy competition in society. He was speaking at the Madhya Pradesh State Advocates T20 Cricket Tournament held at a stadium in Rewa.
Addressing players and attendees, Shukla said sports keep both body and mind healthy while nurturing discipline and mutual respect. He noted that advocates from 30 districts are showcasing their sporting talent in Rewa, calling it a matter of pride for the region.
Highlighting Rewa’s rapid progress, the Deputy CM said the city is moving steadily on the path of development with modern sports complexes, multiple stadiums, and improved infrastructure. He added that Rewa has shed its past image of backwardness and is emerging with new development benchmarks. Shukla extended his best wishes to all players for excellent performance and healthy competition.
During the event, District Bar Association President Rajendra Pandey said Deputy CM Shukla has consistently worked for the development of Rewa and the Vindhya region. He credited Shukla’s efforts for the city’s transformation, citing four-lane roads, an airport, rail connectivity, flyovers, developed markets, and the expansion of key institutions.
The T20 cricket tournament features teams of advocates from Rewa, Satna, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Indore, Betul, and several other districts, with participation from 30 districts in total. The tournament will conclude on January 3. At the inauguration, Shukla interacted with players and formally inaugurated the match by playing the first ball.
Office-bearers of the District Bar Association, umpires, players, and a large number of spectators were present at the ceremony.
