New Delhi, 23rd April 2026: — Smel Steel Structural Pvt. Ltd., a step-down subsidiary of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, is pleased to announce that its aluminium manufacturing project in Sambalpur, Odisha is in an advanced stageof readiness for commencement of commercial production. The project marks a significant expansion into value-added aluminium products and reinforces the Group’s commitment to strengthening India’s downstream metal capabilities.
The facility will produce:
- Aluminium Flat Rolled Products (FRP) with an installed capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum (TPA), in the thickness range of 0.3 – 4.0 mm
- Aluminium Foils with a capacity of 18,000 TPA, in the thickness range of 6 – 40 microns
This expansion reinforces Shyam Metalics’ focus on product diversification and value addition, while addressing the growing demand for high-quality metal products across industries. The facility is strategically positionedto support the increasing requirements of sectors that rely on precision-engineered and value-added materials, thereby reducing dependence on imports and contributing to India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
The commissioning of the Sambalpur unit is expected to significantly enhance the Company’s financial and operational performance. With a strong focus on value-added products, the Company anticipates an improvement inoperating margins by approximately 40–50%, driven by better product mix and enhanced efficiencies. Additionally, the new facility is expected to contribute meaningfully to revenue growth, with the topline projected to increase by 2x to 2.5x over the medium term, supported by expanded market reach and higher realization products.
The project further strengthens the Company’s integrated manufacturing ecosystem by enhancing its downstream capabilities and enabling expansion into high-growth segments, thereby unlocking new revenue streams.
Additionally, the facility’s strategic location provides logistical advantages, allowing efficient access to key demand centres and supporting seamless distribution across domestic and international markets.
