Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna public sector enterprise and one of India’s leading steel producers, recorded its highest-ever December sales in 2025, reflecting sustained momentum in demand and operational performance.
SAIL reported provisional sales of 2.1 million tonnes (MT) in December 2025, marking a 37 per cent increase over 1.5 MT sold in December 2024. This represents the company’s best December performance to date.
During the month, SAIL achieved new sales records across multiple product categories and distribution channels, while also significantly reducing inventory levels. The performance was driven by a strong focus on timely deliveries, improved supply-chain efficiency, and renewed emphasis on branding and customer engagement initiatives.
The strong December showing has helped SAIL maintain its growth trajectory in FY 2025–26. For the April–December 2025 period, total sales reached 14.7 MT (provisional), registering a 17 per cent increase compared to 12.6 MT in the corresponding period last year.
In addition to robust domestic demand, export volumes also witnessed notable growth, underscoring SAIL’s expanding presence in international markets.
The sustained improvement highlights the company’s strong market position, customer-centric approach, and operational excellence. With consistent performance in both domestic and global markets, SAIL continues to strengthen its standing among India’s leading steel producers and enhance its competitiveness on the global stage.
