Rajnath Singh said that the government would maintain regular interaction with armed forces veterans and work with full dedication towards addressing their concerns and welfare issues.
The Defence Minister made these remarks while addressing an event organised on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas by Veterans India.
During his address, Rajnath Singh assured veterans of the government’s commitment towards their welfare and said, “I will work for you, and I am sure we will succeed.”
The minister praised the courage, fighting spirit, and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War as well as in previous wars fought by the country. Referring to his visit to Dras on July 20, 2019, he recalled the extraordinary bravery displayed by Indian soldiers during the conflict.
Rajnath Singh stated that Indian troops fought under extremely difficult conditions and reclaimed strategic peaks despite intense enemy fire from higher altitudes. He said the soldiers displayed unmatched courage and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
The Defence Minister also referred to his visit to Siachen Glacier soon after assuming office, saying that the visit symbolised the government’s commitment to keeping the welfare and interests of Indian soldiers at the centre of decision-making processes.
He further remarked that following the Balakot airstrike, the confidence and pride of the country in its armed forces had significantly increased.
At the event, Rajnath Singh felicitated family members of several martyred soldiers in recognition of their sacrifices.
