Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Diya Kumari on Saturday directed officials to prioritise public needs and regional development while preparing proposals for roads, bridges and buildings for the upcoming state budget. She also instructed that all proposals must be aligned with the vision outlined in the “Viksit Rajasthan” document.
Chairing an important review meeting at the Public Works Department (PWD) Headquarters, the Deputy Chief Minister discussed departmental preparedness and proposed works in view of the forthcoming budget.
She asked officials to conduct a thorough review and due diligence of all proposals before budget finalisation. Emphasising public interest, she said that road projects addressing genuine local requirements should be given priority. Selection of projects, she added, should be based on public utility, regional necessity, traffic convenience, safety and long-term sustainability.
Smt. Diya Kumari stressed the need for proposals that can be completed within stipulated timelines, are technically sound, and financially viable, so that implementation can begin swiftly once budget approval is granted. She also directed officials to ensure that proposed road projects do not face delays due to issues related to forest land, residential areas or other regulatory constraints.
Field visits for ground-level assessment
To ensure budget announcements are aligned with ground realities, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed officers to undertake field visits over the next three days. She said district-level officials should identify road projects that can immediately ease traffic movement and provide relief to the public.
During the meeting, she also reviewed the implementation of previous budget announcements and directed that all ongoing projects be completed on time. A detailed, point-wise review was conducted on the progress of works related to National Highways (NH), NHAI, RSHA, CIRF, RIDCOR, PMGSY, and state road projects.
