Under the Panch Gaurav Programme, a two-day Guava Festival and Agricultural Technology Fair–2026 will be organised at Dussehra Ground, Sawai Madhopur, starting Sunday, January 18, to mark the district’s Foundation Day. The event is being jointly organised by the District Administration and the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, and is being held for the first time in the country.
The festival will be chaired by Rajasthan Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture, Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, with Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena said the festival will witness participation from ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, Centres of Excellence, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), scientists, farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), traders and institutions from Rajasthan and across the country. Around 10,000 farmers are expected to participate daily.
He said that dozens of improved guava varieties will be showcased during the festival, along with taste-testing sessions, while outstanding varieties will be honoured with awards and certificates.
Highlighting the uniqueness of the event, the Agriculture Minister said the festival will facilitate direct interaction between farmers and scientists. Through chaupals, farmers will receive practical guidance on advanced farming techniques, variety selection, plant protection, marketing and value addition. Emphasis will also be laid on reducing the role of intermediaries through direct interaction between farmers and traders.
Guava processing will be a major attraction of the fair. Products such as guava juice, chips, candy, fruit bars, jelly, barfi, laddoos, sharbat, pulp, RTS beverages, chutney, pickles, leather, powder and dehydrated guava will be displayed and offered for tasting. Farmers will also be trained in processing technologies. Experts from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other states will provide guidance on value addition and processing.
