New Delhi/Jaipur — In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India is ramping up its emergency preparedness with a massive mock drill scheduled for May 7 across 244 'Civil Defence Districts' — a strategic move led by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Among the selected regions, Rajasthan alone accounts for 28 key cities, where extensive exercises will simulate a response to foreign attacks, especially aerial threats.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary is set for Tuesday at the state secretariat to finalize the blueprint. All District Collectors and SPs will be briefed to ensure seamless coordination.
Mock drills will take place in cities like: Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Hanumangarh, Sikar, Beawar, Sriganganagar, Bhilwara, and more.
Air raid sirens will be tested — for instance, Jodhpur has installed 18 sirens, and Bikaner 10, at various strategic points.
🌑 Blackout Protocol:
Residents will be asked to turn off home lights, mobile flashlights, car lights, highway and toll plaza lights, simulating total darkness to avoid detection from the air.
🛡️ 10 Key Scenarios To Be Tested:
Air raid warning sirens
Emergency blackouts
Student training in civil defence
Evacuation drills
Hiding critical infrastructure
Activating hotline with Air Force
Emergency response coordination
Testing backup control centers
Bunker and trench maintenance

📍 Sensitive zones like airports, hospitals, railway stations, and bus depots will be under special observation.
