Raipur, December 4, 2025 — Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the process to develop one village in Jashpur district as a Model Solar Village has officially begun. The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of District Collector Rohit Vyas, who heads the district-level selection committee.
Villages With Population Above 5,000 to Be Considered
According to the latest guidelines issued by the Government of India, only revenue villages with a population of more than 5,000 are eligible for selection. As Jashpur has fewer than 10 such villages, the district committee has launched a six-month competitive evaluation among the top 10 most-populated villages to identify the final candidate.
Village With Highest Installed Solar Capacity Will Win
As per the guidelines, the village that achieves the highest installed solar energy capacity, through both government and non-government sources, will be selected as the Model Solar Village.
The 10 shortlisted villages are:
Bataikela
Sanna
Kansabel
Pandrapath
Ludeg
Kamarima
Ghoghar
Tapkara
Duldula
Farsabahar
These villages will undergo capacity enhancement and assessment over the next six months.
₹2 Crore DPR to Be Submitted by March 15, 2026
For the development of the chosen village, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹2 crore will be prepared and submitted to the Energy Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, by March 15, 2026.
The initiative aims to boost renewable energy adoption at the grassroots level and position Jashpur as a leading district in decentralized solar power generation.
