Dreams are not those that come while sleeping, but those that keep one awake. Young women from the tribal-dominated Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh have embodied this spirit by shaping their futures and securing selection in the Home Guards and District Police Force. Committed to empowering youth and strengthening their prospects, the Chhattisgarh government has facilitated multiple opportunities for growth. In this direction, the Kondagaon district administration’s free coaching initiative has played a decisive role in transforming aspirations into achievements.
Jagbati Markam: Finding Direction Through Purposeful Guidance
A resident of Malakot village, Jagbati Markam approached the Lakshya Coaching Centre with ambition but needed structured guidance. The centre emphasized that competitive exam preparation goes beyond studying—it requires strategy, discipline, and confidence. Jagbati learned how to plan her studies, manage time, and build conceptual clarity. The outcome was tangible: she secured selection in the District Police Force.
Prior to joining the centre, Jagbati was pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology and had attempted NET twice, narrowly missing qualification in SET by 12 marks. Rather than discouragement, this setback became a lesson. Upon learning about Lakshya Coaching through friends, she found renewed direction and momentum toward her goal.
Neelam Markam: Overcoming Financial Barriers with Determination
Neelam Markam from Pali village presents a compelling story of resilience. While pursuing her BSc (final year) and preparing for the CGPSC exam, financial constraints prevented her from enrolling in paid coaching. Discovering the district administration’s fully free coaching programme rekindled hope. Teachers not only strengthened her academic preparation but also built mental resilience.
When recruitment for Home Guards opened, Neelam applied and prepared diligently. With support from peers training for the police force, she focused on physical preparation, cleared the physical test, and then turned to the written exam. Managing college exams alongside competitive preparation was challenging, but with effective time management and faculty guidance, she succeeded. Neelam remains committed to continuing her studies while preparing for future competitive examinations.
Ranjana Rana: Discipline as the Foundation of Success
Ranjana Rana from Mardapal village, the youngest in a farming family of four siblings, was already preparing for CGPSC through Lakshya Coaching when Home Guard recruitment was announced. She applied immediately. Regular running and a disciplined routine ensured her success in the physical test, while prior academic preparation helped her clear the written exam.
Her daily schedule—waking at 4 a.m., running, studying, and attending coaching by 9 a.m.—reflects unwavering discipline. Ranjana credits the centre’s simple and effective teaching methods for making complex subjects accessible. She plans to continue preparing for higher competitive examinations.
From Tutors to Uniformed Service: Stories of Transformation
Baliram Baghel from Nevra village, located about 35 km from Kondagaon district headquarters, taught as a tutor in his village school for three years after college. When the temporary position ended, he shifted to Kondagaon to prepare for competitive exams. Joining the district-run Lakshya Free Coaching Centre gave his preparation structure and direction. With expert guidance and disciplined study, he achieved selection in the Chhattisgarh Police Force.
Similarly, Manoj Netam from Bafna village leveraged the same coaching support. Despite limited resources, his consistent effort, physical training, and mentorship culminated in selection to the Chhattisgarh Police Force.
