Raipur, March 10: The Water Resources Department Chhattisgarh has approved ₹8.54 crore for two irrigation projects in Gariaband district aimed at strengthening water availability and irrigation infrastructure.
According to officials, ₹4.98 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation and construction of the Siddhbaba Reservoir in Chhura block, which is expected to provide irrigation facilities to about 350 hectares of Kharif crop area once completed.
Additionally, ₹3.56 crore has been approved for the construction of an anicut at Tohemeta in Mainpur block. The project will support drinking water supply, groundwater recharge, and irrigation facilities for about 55 hectares of farmland through farmers’ own irrigation systems.
Administrative approval for executing the projects has been granted to the **Chief Engineer of the Mahanadi-Godavari Basin Water Resources Department in Raipur. Officials said the schemes are expected to improve irrigation coverage and strengthen water resource management in the region.
