Under the ambitious Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, 800 devotees from Durg Division departed today from Durg Railway Station for Dwarka, Somnath, and Nageshwar via the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train. The train was flagged off by Shri Doman Lal Korsewada, Vice-Chairman of the SC Development Authority and Ahivara MLA, Mrs. Alka Bagmar, Mayor of Durg Municipal Corporation, Mrs. Saraswati Banjare, Chairperson of Durg Zilla Panchayat, and Collector Shri Abhijeet Singh.
Before departure, MLA Shri Korsewada and other dignitaries met the passengers on the train, extended their best wishes, and prayed for a successful journey. Of the 800 pilgrims, 459 are from Durg district, 189 from Balod district, 146 from Bemetara district, and 6 from the Directorate of Social Welfare, Chhattisgarh.
All necessary arrangements for the convenience and safety of the pilgrims, including nodal officers, assistant nodal officers, supervisors, and medical teams, were ensured.
The pilgrims expressed great enthusiasm for the journey and appreciated the welfare initiative by the Chhattisgarh government, thanking Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for this opportunity. Officials from the district administration, police, tourism, and railway departments, as well as a large number of city residents, were present at the flag-off ceremony.
