Clarification on Renaming of Barddhaman Railway Station
The Ministry of Railways has clarified that no proposal is under consideration to change the name of Barddhaman (BWN) railway station in the Eastern Railway zone.
According to existing procedures, the authority to approve any change in the name of a railway station rests with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. Such approval is granted based on a recommendation from the concerned State Government and after obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from relevant bodies, including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Science & Technology, Surveyor General of India, and the Department of Posts.
The Ministry further stated that it has not received any communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking an NOC regarding the proposed renaming of the station.
