Bhopal, April 7: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday approved ₹16,720 crore for a wide range of public welfare schemes, education initiatives, forest restoration, agriculture procurement and infrastructure development projects aimed at accelerating the state’s overall growth.
The decisions were taken at the Council of Ministers meeting held at the Mantralaya.
The approvals cover major allocations across education, irrigation, administrative reforms, agriculture, forest conservation and transport infrastructure, signalling a broad-based development push.
Key Cabinet Approvals
- ₹2,952 crore approved for the continuation of eight Commercial Tax Department schemes till 2030–31
- ₹3,174 crore cleared for procurement of gram and lentils over three years, including the current financial year
- ₹5,215 crore sanctioned for regeneration, restoration and conservation in forest areas
- ₹3,039 crore approved for tuition fee reimbursement to private schools under RTE
- ₹940 crore cleared for the PM SHRI School scheme
- ₹693 crore sanctioned for free textbooks for students from Classes 9 to 12
- Approval to provide ₹10,000 per month under the hostel scheme for Scheduled Caste students
- ₹590 crore approved for land acquisition to enable Airbus aircraft operations at the government airstrip in Ujjain
- ₹88.41 crore sanctioned for the Katna micro-irrigation project in Mandsaur district
A major institutional reform decision was also taken with the approval for setting up a state-of-the-art Financial Training and Research Institute (FTRI) in Bhopal, aimed at strengthening financial discipline, transparency and capacity-building in government administration.
The cabinet also approved key education-focused measures, including RTE reimbursement, expansion of PM SHRI schools and free textbooks for senior secondary students, while extending direct support to Scheduled Caste students pursuing studies in Delhi through a monthly ₹10,000 assistance provision.
In the infrastructure segment, the cabinet cleared land acquisition for upgrading the Ujjain government airstrip to support Airbus aircraft operations, a move expected to improve regional air connectivity and support economic activity.
The decisions underline the state government’s push to strengthen fiscal systems, farmer support, education delivery, irrigation infrastructure and long-term asset creation.
