Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav flagged off newly prepared Mobile Forensic Vans from the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, aimed at strengthening crime investigation, evidence collection, and scientific examination across the state. He said that these mobile forensic vans will prove highly effective in crime scene investigations in various districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister stated that this initiative, undertaken by the Police Department under his leadership, will promote forensic-based, swift, and accurate investigations. This, in turn, will help in faster crime detection, improve conviction rates, and further strengthen citizens’ confidence in public safety.
A total of 57 Mobile Forensic Vans are being provided to the Madhya Pradesh Police, at a total cost of ₹36 crore 94 lakh 17 thousand 969. The entire amount has been funded by the Central Government. Of these, 14 mobile forensic vans were received on December 16, 2025, which have now been deployed. The remaining vans will be distributed to districts in the near future.
These mobile forensic vans are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including stereo microscopes, weighing balances, DSLR cameras, mini refrigerators, LED TV screens, thermal printers, body-worn cameras, and other essential tools.
In addition, the vans are supplied with specialized kits for investigation and evidence handling, such as crime scene security kits, fingerprint analysis kits, blood and hair identification tools, high-intensity forensic light sources, foot and tyre impression kits, arson investigation kits, evidence packing kits, bullet hole and gunshot residue detection kits, narcotics and explosives identification kits, as well as DNA collection and chain-of-custody kits.
