Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government remains firmly committed to the welfare of all sections of society—poor, farmers, youth, and women. Under the Prime Minister’s guidance, the state government is steadily overcoming challenges and rapidly expanding healthcare infrastructure across the state.
The Chief Minister noted that earlier, setting up medical colleges involved numerous obstacles. However, with the establishment of the National Medical Commission of India, the process of opening medical colleges has been significantly simplified. He said that until 2002–03, Madhya Pradesh had only five medical colleges. At present, the state has 19 government medical colleges and 14 private medical colleges in operation.
He announced that within this month, the foundation stone will be laid for four new medical colleges in Betul, Dhar, Katni, and Panna. In addition, eight new Ayurvedic medical colleges offering BAMS courses are being launched within a year. As per the government’s commitment, medical colleges will be available across all 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, and soon, every district in the state will have a medical college.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that the state government is also expanding institutions related to Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani systems of medicine. Healthcare services are being extended to remote rural and tribal regions. He expressed these views while addressing the Arogya Seva Sankalp Conference held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday.
The Chief Minister stated that the government stands firmly with the children of the state. To support economically weaker and deserving students pursuing MBBS, financial assistance of ₹16.50 lakh per year is being provided. The objective, he said, is to ensure that every child becomes a capable and responsible citizen. He called upon young doctors to come forward to serve society and act as true guardians of democracy. Collective efforts are essential, he added, to build a strong and healthy nation.
He further informed that the state government has merged the Education Department with the Public Health and Family Welfare Department to strengthen public health management and improve medical services. In one year alone, the government has provided ₹207 crore to over 8,000 medical education students, enabling them to focus on skill development without worrying about fees.
