Incident Details
The viral clip shows heavy traffic congestion in the crowded market area. Amid the jam, the officer arrived in her Hyundai i20, with a police cap placed on the dashboard, reportedly to assert her authority.
Eyewitnesses said the officer stepped out of her car and began threatening and verbally abusing the couple. The young man in the car protested, questioning why he was being addressed in such a manner, which led to further confrontation.

Bystanders at the scene recorded the entire incident on their phones. The video, showing the officer’s aggressive behavior in full public view, has gone viral, sparking outrage and discussions on abuse of power by law enforcement personnel.
Police Response
CO Cantt, Naveena Shukla, confirmed that the officer in the video is Ratna Rathi, currently posted at Mahua Police Station in Aligarh. She was reportedly traveling on official duty to Muzaffarnagar and was passing through Meerut at the time of the incident.
CO Shukla stated:
“Once we receive a formal complaint (tahrir), the matter will be investigated according to law.”
