Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the land of Bundelkhand is renowned for its warriors and bravehearts, and it is on this sacred soil that Maharaja Chhatrasal was born. “I bow to this land of valor,” he said, adding that today is a day of heroic spirit and courage as it marks the birth anniversary of the great Bundeli warrior, Maharaja Chhatrasal.
Addressing the Maharaja Chhatrasal Jayanti celebration organized in village Mau Sahania (Chhatarpur district) by the Maharaja Chhatrasal Memorial Research Institute, CM Yadav said, "The battle of Maharaja Chhatrasal was a battle for the dignity of our nation. In extremely challenging circumstances, he confronted the Mughals and defended the country with unmatched bravery and determination. His valor during such difficult times was extraordinary. Maharaja Chhatrasal was a symbol of authority, courage, and heroism.”
The Chief Minister said that legends like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharaja Chhatrasal, Rani Durgavati, Rani Avantibai, and Devi Ahilyabai Holkar are the pride of the nation. “We must learn from their struggles, valor, and ideals,” he added. He announced that the stories of Maharaja Chhatrasal’s bravery will be included in school and college curriculums to inspire the youth.
Addressing the persistent water crisis in Bundelkhand, CM Yadav said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the long-pending Ken-Betwa river linking project has been launched to ensure water availability in the region. He emphasized the government’s continued efforts to bring prosperity and happiness to the lives of farmers in Bundelkhand.
Dr. Yadav inaugurated the three-day Virasat Mahotsav (Heritage Festival) organized by the Maharaja Chhatrasal Memorial Research Institute in collaboration with the Department of Culture. The inauguration began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and floral tribute to Maharaja Chhatrasal’s statue. The Chief Minister also extended greetings on the occasion of the Maharaja’s birth anniversary and released a commemorative souvenir titled Chhatrasal Darpan.
Prominent dignitaries present at the event included Agriculture Minister and Chhatarpur district in-charge Mr. Edal Singh Kansana, Khajuraho MP V.D. Sharma, Maharajpur MLA Kamakhya Pratap Singh, Chhatarpur MLA Lalita Yadav, District Panchayat President Vidya Agnihotri, along with other public representatives and citizens.
