Sirohi, Rajasthan: On the occasion of World Tribal Day, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) distributed 50 leather kits and 350 bee boxes with live bee colonies in Rajasthan’s tribal-dominated Sirohi district, aiming to boost rural livelihoods and self-employment.
KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena launched the Leather Mission, a new initiative designed to support traditional leather artisans through the distribution of modern tool kits. The programme seeks to enhance incomes and encourage artisans who had left the profession to return to their traditional craft.
The event also highlighted the success of KVIC’s Honey Mission, under which more than 1.15 lakh bee boxes have been distributed nationwide, generating employment opportunities for over 11,500 people. Besides creating additional income, beekeeping has contributed to higher agricultural productivity through improved crop pollination.
