New Delhi: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the United Nations, launched the fourth edition of the Women Transforming India (WTI) Awards to recognize outstanding women entrepreneurs driving social and economic change.
The 2019 edition focused on the theme “Women and Entrepreneurship”, celebrating women who are breaking barriers through innovative businesses and developmental solutions. Nominations were opened in the presence of NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and UN Resident Coordinator Renata Lok-Dessallien.
The initiative received strong industry support, with WhatsApp committing support equivalent to US$100,000 for the winners. Since its inception in 2016, the awards have recognized women creating impact across sectors such as education, renewable energy, sanitation, culture, and social innovation.
