
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taiwan Economic Cultural Centre (TECC) in India to strengthen academic collaboration for teaching and learning of Mandarin Chinese in the university. This MoU will pave way for furthering partnership between JMI and other leading educational and research institutions in Taiwan.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Nazim Husian Al-Jafri, Registrar, JMI and Mr. Peters Chen, Director, Education Division, TECC, New Delhi in the presence of Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, JMI and H.E. Ambassador Baushuan Ger, Representative, Taiwan, Economic and Cultural Centre in India.
On this occasion, Ambassador Ger talked about the opportunities that the learning of Mandarin Chinese would open up for Indian students who would have prospects of placement in Taiwanese small and medium-sized companies that are exploring investment opportunities in India.
Prof. Najma Akhtar expressed her desire to set up a Taiwan Study Centre in JMI with the support of Taiwanese Government to have a broad-based engagement with various domains of knowledge and emerging technologies.
The MoU signing ceremony saw the presence of the Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Language, In-Charge, Department of Foreign Languages and other stakeholders.
