The Prize distribution of the 16th Inter School Cricket Tournament 2024-25 took place on 12th December 2024 in the school grounds of the historic Jamia Senior Secondary School.
The ceremony which commenced with a recitation from the holy Quran was attended by the Chief Patron of the event, Prof Mazhar Asif, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor JMI, Chief Guest, renowned former cricketer of the Indian Cricket Team, Padma Shri Mr.Virender Sehwag, Guest of Honour, Prof. Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI along with other faculty members, staff and invited guests, including Mr. Obaid Kamal, Ranji Trophy player. The event was attended by Deans of Faculties and Principals of Jamia schools.
The tournament featured teams from Jamia School (Team A and Team B) and ten other schools, including, Rawal International School, Good Samaritan School, Blue Bells International School, Jamia Hamdard Public School, Cambridge School, Tagore International School, Tarun Niketan, SS Niketan School, Anglo Arabic School, and Chinmaya School.
The final match was played between SS Niketan school Faridabad and Jamia team A. SS Niketan school won the match and secured the coveted trophy of the 16th Inter school cricket tournament.
Prof Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi, appreciated the efforts of the School led by the Principal Dr. Mohd Arshad Khan in organizing the tournament successfully and assured all possible support to the school to further enhance the sport facilities. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in his address motivated the students to actively take part in sports and bring laurels to the country. The legendary cricketer, an alumnus of JMI and the Chief Guest Mr. Virendra Sehwag recalled his close association with JMI and expressed his deep gratitude. He further said that Jamia is always in his heart and he will be always available for the development of sports specially the cricket at Jamia.
The prize distribution ceremony commenced with distribution of prizes and handing over the winner and the runner up trophies to SS Niketan school and Jamia Senior Secondary School respectively. A smart board was gifted by the NGO Shikhar and was handed over by Virender Sehwag, who is also the Chief Patron of the NGO, to Jamia school in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar.
