On the eve of 75th Independence Day, the Jamia Sr. Secondary School organized an inter school speech competition on the topic “Tehreek-e-Azadi Mein Urdu Sahafat Ka Kirdar” as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) on Thursday, the 11th August, 2022.
Students from Jamia Senior Secondary School, Jamia Girls’ Senior Secondary School, and Jamia Middle School participated in the competition. Ms. Sumaiya student of Jamia Sr. Secondary School won 1st prize while Ms. Shahnoor student of Jamia Sr. Secondary School won 2nd and Ms. Malik Momina student of Jamia Girls’ Sr. Secondary School won 3rd prize. Ms. Samahir student of Jamia Girls’ Sr. Secondary School and Ms. Safa Khalid of Jamia Middle School won the consolation prizes.
Speaking about the role of Urdu language in Freedom fighting movement, the Chief Guest of the event Mr. Masoom Muradabadi (Chief Editor- Jadeed Khabar) said that Urdu language played a great role in the freedom of this great nation. It helped in the expression of true patriotism of every Indian during the independence movement. A large number of Urdu newspapers of pre independence era were critical to British rule thus had to face sanctions from the British government but they never gave up the hope and efforts.
Prof. Ilyas Husain, Former Pro Vice-Chancellor and the Guest of Honour congratulated the organizers for choosing such an important topic for the competition. He also threw light on contribution of Muslim Scholars and Urdu Journalists and their sacrifices for the freedom of India.
Prof. Wajeehuddin Shehpar Rasool, Retired Professor, Dept. of Urdu, JMI and Prof. Iqtidar Mohd. Khan, Director, Zakir Husain Institute, JMI judged the competition. Prof. Atiqur Rahman, Principal, Jamia Sr. Secondary School welcomed the guests and Mr. Mohd. Mustafa, PGT (Urdu) presented the vote of thanks to the organizers, guests and participants. He expressed gratitude towards Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Nazim Husain Al Jafri, Registrar for their support to the event. The program was attended by a large of audience.
