Jamia Senior Secondary School celebrated Constitution Day with the organization of the Youth Parliament Session 2025–26, held in the MP Hall of the school. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JMI; Prof. Md. Mehtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI; Prof. Asad Malik, Chief Proctor, JMI, Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, Associate Professor, IASE, Faculty of Education, JMI; Syed Abdul Rashid, Security advisor, JMI; Dr. Asif Husain, Dean, Alumni Affairs, JMI, Prof. Firoz Anwar, Incharge, Building and construction Department, JMI, and Mohammad Nadeem Akhtar, Director, Shikhar NGO whose distinguished presence added great significance to the event. Other honoured guests included Mrs. Nusrat Jahan, Headmistress, Jamia Middle School; Mrs. Rukhsana Parveen, Headmistress, Mushir Fatima Nursery School; Mrs. Shagufta Shandar, Incharge Principal, Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School and Mrs. Anjum Iqbal, Principal, Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School, along with members of the staff and students.
The programme commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a ceremonial welcome delivered by Dr. Mohd. Arshad Khan, Principal of Jamia Senior Secondary School, who presented saplings, mementoes, and shawls to the distinguished guests. In his address, he elaborated on the vision behind initiating the Youth Parliament project and underscored the supreme significance of the Constitution as the bedrock of Indian democracy.
Ms. Syed Saba Rizvi then delivered a concise introduction to the concept and objectives of the Youth Parliament, after which the House was formally called into session. The proceedings were conducted in accordance with the business of Lok Sabha. The students portrayed Members of Parliament with remarkable poise, conviction, and authenticity. The Session included the Oath-taking Ceremony, Obituary Reference, Introduction of New Ministers, Question Hour, Short Notice Question, Adjournment Motion, Breach of Privilege, Paper Laying, Upper Chamber Report, Introduction of Foreign Delegates, Calling Attention Motion, and Legislative Business for the consideration of a Bill.
Dynamic exchanges between the ruling party and opposition added both educational and dramatic dimensions to the session. The participants demonstrated commendable linguistic proficiency and reflected the cultural diversity of the institution. The programme received widespread appreciation. Prof. Md. Mehtab Alam Rizvi lauded the initiative, reflecting upon the profound elegance of the Constitution and democratic values, and encouraged students to pursue knowledge with dedication and consistency.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, also addressed the gathering, warmly commending the participants for their exemplary performances. He expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Mohd. Arshad Khan for conceptualizing and executing such a meaningful programme. Prof. Mazhar Asif spoke eloquently about the transformative power of knowledge, emphasized the importance of truth-seeking, and highlighted the centrality of school education in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP). He urged students to remain committed to their studies while upholding moral values.
Awards were conferred by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor to students who secured first place in various inter-school competitions, including top honours in a radio show, science quiz, math quiz, trick-ball shooting, and a debate competition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rizwan Alam, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. Lunch was served to all attendees.
The coordinators of the event were Dr. Rizwan Alam and Ms. Syed Saba Rizvi. Assistant coordinators included Mr. Mohd. Safwan and Ms. Rabiya Saifi, while the scriptwriter for the Youth Parliament was Ms. Syed Saba Rizvi.
