
Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies of Uzbekistan have signed a cooperation agreement to expand and promote educational research activities for mutual benefits of both the institutions and to promote oriental studies in Asia.
JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar and Dr Gulchehra Reksiva, Rector of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies signed the agreement on 28 November 2019.
Under terms of cooperation, both the institutions would collaborate for research projects and studies for academic and scientific publications, exchange graduate and under-graduate students as well as research and teaching staff besides enabling each other for co-supervision of doctoral research.
Dr Gulchehra Reksiva is the first woman Rector of any institute in Uzbekistan who visited the JMI along with Mr Elyor Mahmudov, Pro-Rector of the same institute.
It is worth mentioning that both the institutions are completing 100 years of their foundation.
The Uzbek delegation also visited the MMAJ Academy of International Studies where Uzbek language is taught by Dr Shahid Tasleem. They met the students who study Uzbek and interacted with them in Uzbek language.
Dr Reksiva spoke of the changes in higher education that had been initiated by Uzbek President, Mr Shavkat Mirzoev.
They gifted books about Uzbekistan to the Academy. They were presented books on Uzbekistan and Central Asia brought out by the Academy.
