Jamia Millia Islamia takes immense pride in the achievement of its Archery Team (Men & Women), which secured victory at the 46th Delhi State Archery Championship 2025-26, thereby being crowned the "State Champion." The players demonstrated remarkable skill, marking the team's second consecutive triumph. The tournament was organised by the Delhi Archery Association from January 30, 2026, to February 1, 2026, at the Yamuna Sports Complex in the national capital.
In the tournament, the team (Men & Women) secured a total of 18 medals in the Senior Category, as detailed below:-
1. Jagriti Bansal, a student of BA (Hons.) Social Work 1st Year won 04 Gold Medals, 03 Silver Medals & 01 Bronze Medal.
2. Abhishek Kumar, a student of B.A. (Hons.) Mass Media Hindi 1st Year won 04 Gold Medals & 01 Silver Medal.
3. Zubair Khan, a student of BA (Hons.) Social Work 2nd Year, Department of Social Work, JMI won 02 Gold Medals, 04 Silver Medals & 02 Bronze Medals.
4. Aman Gupta, a student of BA (Hons.) Social Work Semester-I, Department of Social Work, JMI won 01 Gold Medal.
The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Mazhar Asif, honored the victorious team members in his office. He extended his congratulations for their championship victory and commended their exceptional performance in attaining these remarkable accomplishments.
Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, the Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia, commended the Archery Players for securing the winning trophy in consecutive years, and he encouraged and extended his best wishes for their future tournaments.
Prof. Mohd. Mahfuzul Haque (Chairman of the Games & Sports Committee at Jamia Millia Islamia) also extended his congratulations to all the Archery Players for this commendable accomplishment and acknowledged their dedicated efforts.
Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Honorary Director of Games and Sports at JMI, commended the athletes for securing the winning trophy and enhancing the university's reputation. He expressed gratitude to the Honorable Vice-Chancellor and the proactive Registrar of the institution for their unwavering support.
Besides, Prof. Mohammad Abid, Honorary Deputy Director of Games & Sports, Jamia Millia Islamia along with Dr. Arunesh Kumar Singh, President of the Archery Club at the varsity, extended their congratulations to the students and conveyed their best wishes for the forthcoming sports events. They also expressed their appreciation to Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Honorary Director of Games & Sports for facilitating the establishment of an Archery Range at the Sports Complex of the university.
