The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Marriage Registrar and a staff member of Jaipur's Lal Kothi Municipal Corporation office while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹12,500 during a trap operation.
According to the ACB, Marriage Registrar Vikram Singh and employee Rakesh Choudhary demanded ₹2,500–3,000 per marriage registration despite the official government fee being only ₹110. The complaint was filed by an Arya Samaj temple representative, who alleged that applicants were deliberately harassed and their documents were rejected unless bribes were paid.
Following a confidential verification of the complaint, the ACB confirmed the bribery demand and carried out a trap operation on 2 July 2026, catching both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.
During the operation, officials also recovered an additional ₹38,000 in cash from the possession of employee Rakesh Choudhary. The source of the cash is under investigation, while searches are continuing at the accused's residences and other locations.
The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and initiated further investigation. Authorities have urged citizens to report corruption through the ACB's toll-free helpline 1064 or WhatsApp number 9413502834.
