In a key infrastructure development, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has energised a 200 MVA power transformer at the 220 kV Mangliya substation in Indore to support the Indore Metro Rail Project.
State Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar said the project will ensure reliable and quality power supply for metro operations while strengthening the city’s electricity infrastructure.
The transformer has been installed at the Mangliya substation to meet the growing power requirements of the metro network. Despite challenges in developing transmission infrastructure in densely populated areas such as Khajrana, engineers from MP Transco successfully identified and utilised space for installing the transformer and associated feeder systems.
Officials said the Khajrana metro substation will now receive power through two dedicated 132 kV circuits, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply for metro operations.
The project was executed under a deposit scheme, with the Indore Metro depositing ₹26.26 crore for the development, which was carried out under the supervision of MP Transco.
The commissioning of the transformer is expected to play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the Indore Metro and in strengthening the overall power transmission network in the city.
