CM Ashok Gehlot said today, “On World Food Day, our goal should be feeding all but also caring for the earth. Let’s make efforts to realise this year’s theme, to “Grow, Nourish, Sustain; Together.” During the present COVID-19 Pandemic, it is important, we ensure all get healthy, nutritious food.”
On occasion of World Food Day 2020, the department has released distribution details which is estimated to be at 1,33,500 through all Urban Local Bodies. The department also shared the total distribution figures till date, which is estimated to be at 50,30,853. Nearly 95 Crores are estimated to be spent for first year on the scheme. The scheme will benefit 1.34 Lakh people per day and 4.87 Crore will benefit overall with 358 distribution centers across different cities of state.
With an aim to provide food to every needy individual in state at an affordable price of Rs. 8/- where the state government is bearing a subsidy of Rs. 12/- per plate on the same.
Standing by the slogan from Government of Rajasthan “Koi Bhookha Na Soye” countering COVID-19, in August, CM Ashok Gehlot launched the Indira Rasoi scheme to pay tribute to former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his 76th birth anniversary for the needy in the state to eradicate malnutrition and hunger.
