Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reviewed flood-affected areas in North Goa following days of heavy rainfall and rising water levels.
During visits to Bardez, Pernem and Bicholim, the Chief Minister said rescue teams had been placed on alert and affected families were being shifted to safer locations. Around 10 houses and two temples in Sal, Bicholim were submerged after water levels rose, reportedly due to water released from the Tilari Dam in Maharashtra.
The India Meteorological Department forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across Goa over the next two days. The state government also plans to seek central assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
