Jaipur, June 10 – Minister of State for Environment and Forests (Independent Charge) Mr. Sanjay Sharma conducted an inspection of the Nidani Dam and proposed new dam sites in Alwar district on Tuesday. He visited areas around the Pratapbandh Dam, Jarkhawala Nala, and Bhurasiddh region and issued necessary directives to the concerned officials.
During the visit, Mr. Sharma instructed officers from the Forest Department and the Municipal Corporation to expedite the required processes for the construction of the three proposed dams. The Forest Department is in the process of issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to facilitate this. He directed that technical proposals and tender preparations be completed swiftly. The construction of these dams is expected to raise the groundwater levels in more than a dozen municipal wards of Alwar, enhance environmental protection, and improve water availability for wildlife.
Orders Issued for Desilting of Nidani and Pratapbandh Dams
The Minister directed the Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department to draft proposals for the desilting of the Pratapbandh Dam and to secure departmental approvals to carry out the work. Inspecting the Nidani Dam, he instructed the Deputy Conservator of Forests to strengthen the dam embankment, remove flow obstructions, and ensure proper cleanliness and maintenance.
Appreciates Grass Nursery Innovation Near Aadapada Hanuman Temple
Mr. Sharma also inspected a grass nursery being developed near the Aadapada Hanuman Temple and praised the innovation led by the Forest Department. Sariska Deputy Conservator of Forests Mr. Abhimanyu Saharan informed him that this nursery is part of a new initiative under the Minister's guidance, aiming to cultivate grass for replantation in forest areas. Once successful, similar nurseries will be established elsewhere.
Calls for Public Participation in 'Vande Ganga' Water Conservation Campaign
The Minister highlighted that the state government is running the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ from June 5 to June 20, focused on building and renovating water structures. He urged the public to actively participate in the campaign and contribute to the preservation of water and the environment.
