New Delhi, January 8, 2026 (PIB): The Election Commission of India (ECI) today organised a conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in New Delhi as part of preparations for the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026, scheduled to be held from January 21 to 23, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The conference was addressed by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi. The participants were briefed on the key aspects of IICDEM 2026 and the specific roles to be played by the CEOs in the conference.
Following the addresses, the CEOs deliberated on 36 thematic groups, each to be led by designated CEOs during IICDEM 2026. These themes encompass all aspects of election management and aim to build a comprehensive knowledge repository drawing from the rich and diverse experiences of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) across the world.
IICDEM 2026 is set to be India’s largest global conference in the field of election management and democracy. The conference will witness participation of around 100 international delegates representing Election Management Bodies from across the globe, along with representatives of international organisations, foreign embassies in India, and leading academic and practitioner experts in the electoral domain.
