Theatron, the Annual Inter school, Theatre Fest, organised by Delhi Public School R.K. Puram provided a platform for budding actors from a plethora of schools to emblazon their passion for the stage. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Inderpal Singh, an eminent television anchor, film actor and writer, with movies such as Vicky Donor, Khosla Ka Ghosla and Besharam in his repertoire.
There were nine distinct events: Nukkad Natak, Stage Play, Ads Act, Thespian Coliseum, Play-o-Poem, Bolt from the Blue (Surprise Event), Mime, Courtroom Drama and Movie-making. Over 25 schools participated in the event.
The Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School RK Puram showcased an imaginative Nukkad Natak portraying the plight of Indian soldiers and a stage play titled ‘In the Game Of Thrones you either win or you die’ at the Valedictory Function. They were appreciated as the hall reverberated with thunderous applause.
The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, in her address, commended the efforts of the Expressions Theatre Club in putting up a successful event of this magnitude. She recounted her memorable experience with the Theatre Club’s Alumni, and their effort in putting up the Greek tragedy ‘ANTIGONE’ last year. She also encouraged the Club members to explore other Genres of Theatre other than the Nukkad Natak.
“Nothing is above an actor’s performance,” she exclaimed while speaking about the importance of committing oneself to Theatre.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Inderpal Singh, began his congratulatory address by applauding the host school’s performances. He said that the character of a nation is determined by the amount of respect given to women and the armed forces. “Theatre is the best medium to express and to learn”.
