DGP-11 emerged as the champion of the 18th Challenger Trophy Cricket Tournament after registering a commanding 121-run victory over the District Police Force, Bhopal, in the departmental final held on December 23 at Nehru Nagar Police Lines, Bhopal.
Organised by the Maheshwar Sports Education and Social Organisation, the final saw DGP-11 deliver an all-round performance. After winning the toss, DGP-11 elected to bat and posted an imposing total of 218 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Dishyant Khare led the charge with a brilliant knock of 89 runs, while Gaurav Singh Bhadauria contributed 58 runs and Pragya Balre added a valuable 39 to strengthen the innings. For the District Police Force, Bhopal, Vishal Kahar picked up three wickets, while Sushil claimed two.
Chasing a stiff target of 218, the District Police Force, Bhopal, struggled against disciplined bowling and was bowled out for 97 runs. A. Pathan top-scored for the team with a fighting 42. DGP-11’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Rahul Rawat, who took four wickets, supported by Narendra Raikwar with three wickets and Arun with one.
Dishyant Khare was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final. Tournament awards saw Vishal Singh Bhadauria (DGP-11) win Best Bowler, Gaurav Singh Bhadauria (DGP-11) take Best Batter, and Sandeep Suryavanshi (DGP-11) receive the Best Fielder/Wicketkeeper award. The Player of the Tournament honour went to Vishal Kahar of the District Police Force, Bhopal.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by 25th Battalion Commandant Nagendra Singh. DGP-11 manager and batting coach Shyam Murti, bowling coach Manjeet Singh, fitness coach Manoj Badrola, members of the organising committee, players, and a large number of spectators were present at the event.
