The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for dense fog across several parts of north and central India, warning that reduced visibility conditions are likely to persist till Thursday.
According to the weather office, dense fog is expected over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar until Wednesday night or early Thursday.
The IMD has also forecast cold wave conditions over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi for the next two to three days, with temperatures likely to remain below normal in several areas.
In eastern India, the department has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by hail over Gangetic West Bengal and Sikkim. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may witness rainfall today along with lightning and gusty winds.
Further south, the IMD has cautioned that squally or stormy weather conditions may prevail over the Gulf of Mannar and the Comorin area until Saturday.
